Aliens vs. Predator has had a rocky history as a license. While the sci-fi crossover found legs in a number of well-written and realized comic mini-series from Dark Horse (after a easily missed Easter Egg in Predator 2 planted the seeds from which the whole shebang sprung), the long awaited films in 2004 and 2007 failed to capture audiences the way their single-species predecessors had.
