Shin Megami Tensei: Persona Series References

Here are some references to the Shin Megami Tensei: Persona Series in Catherine:

    Vincent's bookshelf above his bed contains a book titled Persona
    In the Stray Sheep on the counter to the left of where Erica usually stands is a doll of Teddie from Persona 4
    Also near Erica is a Gekkoukan emblem (Persona 3) on the wall
    In the bathroom of the Stray Sheep, a poster of Teddie (Persona 4) hangs on the wall with his Japanese name (Kuma) written on it.
    The tower that Vincent climbs in his nightmares bears resemblance to Tartarus from Persona 3.
    In the Stray Sheep Bathroom, there's a poster that says "RISE!" (in reference to the character from Persona 4)
    There is a Persona 3 poster on the wall across from the booth that Vincent and his friends drink. It's only visible in bar cutscenes such as the one on day 3

Text Replies Matter

There are usually about three variations in the way Vincent responds to his texts. The difference is most notable in the response's tone. The gamut of Vincent's feelings can go from indifference to abrasive to considerate - it all depends on how you want to convey his emotions.

You can view your answer options by pressing erase and then pressing enter. When you are satisfied with the first sentence, you can do the same with the second and the third. This allows you to tailor unique combination of responses that will give you either good or bad adjustments to the morality meter accordingly. So, play around with your texting options for a bit and figure out how you want to be perceived before you hit the Send button.

How to Activate Very Easy Mode

At the title screen hold SELECT (BACK) while you have "Golden Playhouse" is highlighted for a few seconds until you hear a tone and see a message about Very Easy Mode. Now, select Easy Mode in Golden Playhouse and it should be much, much easier.

Here's where things become a little unclear. I selected Golden Playhouse and there was no option called "Very Easy," but I chose "Easy" and continued my save and the game became substantially easier. There are plenty of energy drinks that allow you to climb three blocks instantly in Very Easy Mode.

How to Get All 8 Endings

Karma is effected by the choices you make during the "confession" segments in the game, by replying to text messages on your phone and even dialogue choices.

There are three possible main routes with different variations of good and bad endings for each. These are acheived by being nice to either Catherine (Pink Side) or Katherine (Blue Side), or being mean to both (keeping your Karma meter in the middle).

The ending variations are actually affected by the Confession questions in the last stage (9th Night).

The last few questions and your standing on the Karma meter up to that point determine the ending.

During the 9th Night, the first question actually doesn't affect your ending, but the following two determine your fourth question and ending. Here's how to get all the different variations:

Secret Photos

Throughout the game you will receive photos (Mainly from Catherine).There are certain photos that can only be gotten through certain actions or what you karma is. The earliest instance of this is Day 2 at the "Stray Sheep" when you receive a text from an unknown number(Catherine).Telling her that it's you will give you a picture of her lips.

    Having pink Karma on Day 3. Catherine will send you a picture of her in a towel.
    On Day 6 or 5 ( I don't remember. When Vincent say he has diarrhea ), Catherine will send you picture to make you feel better. It will be one of two things: Her in red leather and a whip. Or her in a nurse outfit. You get this one regardless and can change which one it is by going back to the text and hitting Triangle(picture button)
    On the final night at the stray sheep you will get a text from your wireless provider, saying that their was a problem with their phone recently (missing pictures). Attached to that text is a picture of Katherine. Either of her next to a birthday cake or her in the bathtub.You can see both of these regardless. But if you have Pink karma you will get a bonus picture.
