Top Rating Tip

Score at least 900 points to earn the top rating (of Ninja 5) in a mission. To do this, avoid being detected as much as possible, and keep performing stealth kills, which are each worth 100 points (or 120 points if they are done when the stealth kill circle is deep red). Not using any items (except the grappling hook) and not taking any damage will also result in bonus points that will add to the total score.

Tomikichi Tip

The Tomikichi are the swordsmen who wear the very wide straw hats, and they almost always drop an item when they are beaten. There is only one Tomikichi in every mission. Kill all 50 Tomikichi in all 50 single-player missions, on any difficulty setting, to gain a set of secret clothing (and also to earn the hidden X360 achievements for this game).

Secret Clothing

There are two sets of secret clothing. For the first set, finish Mission 50. For the second set, kill all the Tomikichi in all the single-player missions, on any difficulty setting.

Rolling Trick

Roll along the ground (by holding the crouch button and then pressing the jump button) to move quickly without making any noise.

Easy Boss Fight Trick

To quickly beat the bosses, find some way to push them into water. In Mission 17, get back onto the pier or the gangplank, and knock the boss over the edges. In Mission 50, go back outside toward any part of the moat, wait for the bosses to eventually catch up, and then knock them over the edges again.

Control Input Errata

The control inputs on the menus always assume that the default controls are being used. Also, for the stagger skill, it must be used when the sword is sheathed (not drawn).
